Past, Present & Future.

It’s holidays! Time is really passing fast. 3 more months and we’re finishing year 1. I feel as if I just entered poly just a few months ago.

I was thinking of the past few months in NP. I’m really fortunate to enter this school, this course. Moreover, I got into this course through JPSAE. Recalled how happy I was when I was called for the interview, how many unfortunate incidents I went through for the portfolio, how I was jumping for joy when I knew I was able to get into FSV.

When I was packing my drawer just now, I saw the textbooks I used to read for some modules. I miss the lecturers. Friends and lecturers made me enjoy my life in this school more. Some of us were very sad when we knew that our class was splitting. I do miss the happy times we had, even though we went through quite a lot of unhappiness.

Few months ago, I was surprised to find one of my relatives being one of the lecturers in the school of film & media studies. Sadly, he doesn’t teach FSV. I only see him once a year during Chinese New Year but now I get to see him almost every day.

Been so busy with so much work and tests! It can really ruin my mood at times. I find this semester busier than last semester actually. I can’t wait for the semester break in March. It’s freaking 7 weeks of holidays without assignments!

Oh yes, have you people planned how you’re going to spend these two weeks of holidays? Well, mine is going to be super boring. I’m going back to FDAWU to work for a few days to earn some ka-chings ($$$), party on Christmas eve and the actual day, and will be doing assignments for the rest of the holidays. Life is so boring. =(

A Good Friend, A Good Sister.

For the past 6 months, I have been enjoying my time with this great sister.

In life, she lends me her great listening ears, gives me advices, encourages and supports me in everything I do. She notices when I’m happy and sad each and everyday. Whenever she knows I’m feeling down, she’ll always ask, ‘what happened to you? You look rather down today.’ Recently, she sent me links to watch videos of babies’ laughter. Those really kept me laughing.

In school, she helps me with schoolwork, takes lunch with me, attends classes with me and all.

When we are out shopping, she tells me what doesn’t suit me and what does. A friend who is frank. This joyful girl never fails to bring laughter into my life. Sometimes, we will just laugh so hard and when I ask her, ‘What are we laughing at?’ she’ll answer saying that she doesn’t know either and we will continue laughing.

For work, I need to call her every morning to wake her up. What is the highest record for number of calls? Answer is 25. Yes, I called her 25 times to wake up her. When she’s asleep, she’s as good as dead.

During the first week of school, I actually termed this girl as a ‘crazy girl’. She’s just someone who goes around hitting people and says ‘HI HI’ really loudly. Always hyper and full of energy. Frankly, I was quite irritated by her then. I found her noisy. I never knew that she will be a good friend whom I am so close to now.

As time pass, she gets along with me really well and I found her nice and interesting. A best friend whom I will like to have for life. 6 months may seem short, but we’ve been through a lot.

In fact, not just friends, more like sisters. Right, Lena?

Thank you girl, you’ve been really great. I love you! =)

Supporting whole family.

It was a two months holiday when semester 1 ended. No projects, no assignments. So I went for a job hunt.

For the first week, all I did was flip through the newspaper and go out to look out for job notices. Finally found a job at Starhub as a sales promoter. Not at those main shops, though. It is an outsource company. Long story. All we need to do is to sell cable TV/maxonline (internet) services. No basic pay, but for every sale I make, I get 25 bucks in my pocket. Just need to put in 3 hours of your time daily from 7-10pm. We do roadshows and door-to-door sales.

And then it hit me.
I thought to myself, ‘What the hell am i going to do in the day?’. I then decided to find another job.

While working for Starhub during a roadshow, I approached a decent-looking man. “Hi sir, do you have any cable services at home?”, I asked politely. He asked me, ‘Are you a part-timer?’ and, well, duh, I said yes. He then introduced me to this job at Food, Drinks and Allied Workers’ Union (FDAWU). Damn long, right. Let me teach you how me and my classmate-colleagues read it.
Okay, read with me..
Fer-dah-wu.
Okay, let’s try again, stay with me,
fer-(That’s right, good, good)-da-(good, keep it up.)-wu.
Ah, wonderful. I knew you were geniuses, every single one of you. ^^
And so, FDAWU, being one of the unions under NTUC, I needed to go to places like Sheng Siong outlets and hotels to recruit NTUC members (5 bucks per member), and sometimes admin work in office (6 bucks per hour). The job was really easy. I liked it. A lot in fact. ^^ However, there is CPF deduction. Boohoo. People there were really nice and that’s why i enjoyed working there as compared to Starhub, where we do the same thing everyday. Boring shit.

I ended up holding two jobs. ‘Machiam’ (Malay for as if) supporting whole family or owing loanshark money.
Working from 9am-10pm daily is no joke! God damn tired. Weeks later, I started to get sick and tired of the Starhub job and so I, well, stopped turning up for the evening gig.

You know people, it’s god damn shiok to receive double incomes. -winks.

Till then. Loves.
